Last week we did another overnight offshore make up charter fishing trip out of the Virginia Beach fishing center. The target was supposed to be tuna but after a couple hours of trolling and no bites, we changed gears and set up for swords and sharks. Underdogs crew helped our anglers to catch and release a couple nice hammerhead sharks earning the anglers a Virginia release citation for their efforts and in the night we caught and released a swordfish. As the sun rose, we trolled a little more with no luck so turned quickly to bottom fishing and caught a really nice mess of a nice class of sea bass, and the new pending Virginia state record grey triggerfish at 6 pounds 12 ounces for angler Dave Walden. once we had a full box of fish for our group and everyone had got the chance to catch a couple nice fish, we changed gears and went north to the norfolk canyon to target daytime swordfish. We fished for 3 hours getting 3 bites, catching and releasing one swordfish and landing another.
