When the offshore troll bite slowed down today, we switched gears and put together an incredible day of Hatteras bottom fishing aboard Matador Sportfishing. With perfect weather, calm seas, and very little current, the conditions were ideal for dropping lines to the bottom.
Our crew filled the fish box with a great mixed catch, including a limit of blueline tilefish, nearly a limit of vermilion snapper, several quality black sea bass, a couple of triggerfish, and even two barracuda. We also released several groupers to fight another day.
Some days you have to adapt, and today proved that flexibility pays off. Even with a slow offshore troll bite, everyone went home with plenty of fresh fish and great memories. It was another fun trip with a fantastic group of returning anglers.

Today we enjoyed another beautiful day offshore fishing out of Hatteras, NC with Boris Belkin, Kadir Arslan, Richard Knapp, and his son, Richard Jr. We were greeted with perfect summer conditions—light winds, sunny skies, warm temperatures, and crystal-clear 83-degree blue water in the Gulf Stream.
The morning started out a little slow as we picked away at a few mahi-mahi (dolphin) and jack crevalle while trolling. As the day went on, the bite improved. After lunch, the floating grass lines came together, the fish moved in, and we finished the afternoon with a nice catch and plenty of action.
It was one of those classic summertime Hatteras offshore fishing charters where patience pays off. Every trip is different, and today's conditions rewarded us with a fun day on the water and happy anglers.
Fishing with this crew is always a pleasure. Boris, Kadir, Richard, and Richard Jr. are some of my favorite people to have aboard, and they always make the trip enjoyable. Thanks again, guys—we're already looking forward to the next adventure!

Today we had a short weather window for a hatteras fishing charter, with it being nice in the morning with winds picking up after lunch. My group was a 2 person charter from Pennsylvania and they wanted MEAT. We started at the blackfin hole and there were plenty of fish busting but they were eating little tiny minnows and were really tough to get a bite out of. Too much current for bottom fishing, so we ran in halfway back to the beach and found the weed line with the motherlode of mahi on it.
Caught an easy limit but tried to grade our catch with nicer fish than just keeping 20 bailers and finished the day with a real nice catch. Could have caught a million mahi. Great to still see so many gaffers around! I dont have much left available in June but have plenty available in July! Give me a shout to go fishing in hatteras!
