What a great weekend it was to go charter fishing in Virginia Beach! We had great weather and a lot of boats were able to get out of Rudee Inlet for both inshore fishing and offshore fishing. There were boats that went offshore and some went trolling in the gulf stream and some went deep drop fishing in the canyon. It sounds like everyone had successful trips with great fishing. The boats that went trolling caught yellowfin tuna, bluefin tuna, mako sharks, wahoo, and mahi mahi- very good fishing for this time of year. The boats that went deep drop fishing had good catches of tilefish, wreckfish, barrelfish, and rosefish.
We fished inshore and found very good fishing for bluefish in Rudee inlet. There were plenty of bluefish in the inlet and we were very happy to see the fish there and biting. These bluefish are good to eat and will be here to catch every day. We are also seeing a handful of small redfish or puppy drum in rudee inlet and we will see flounder arriving soon in rudee inlet. In the inshore waters off Virginia Beach, there have been plenty of tautog. Some schools of big red drum have been seen and a few have been caught. There have also been a handful of black drum, and flounder should be arriving soon in the inshore waters.
Sea bass season starts May 15 and we still have bookings available for that. We are also booking Virginia Beach inshore half day charters, Virginia Beach deep drop fishing charters, and Virginia Beach offshore fishing charters.
