We have seen some really great weather for December for Virginia lately and have been to get out and do some fishing. The fishing has been really great with nice stripers in the bay, and tunas and tilefish offshore. This particular day, we went out to the wrecks in search of bottomfish. We hit several wreckand and there were plenty of fish around. We captured a limit of nice sized black sea bass, some false albacore, a stargazer, a conger eel, some porgies, and a bluefish. It is really nice to have this weather so we can get out and the forecast for the rest of december is for the nice weather to continue. Sea bass season ends January 1 in Virginia, but we will have plenty of deep dropping available for tautog, flounder, tilefish, and grouper. give me a call and we can get your day reserved. On wednesday we took an offshore fishing charter out to the norfolk canyon in search of tuna based on a good satellite shot and some recent fishing reports that said tuna were in the area. We put together a walk on charter and headed offshore in 70 degrees weather on a flat calm december day which is very unusal for Virginia this time of year. We got to the canyon and it was instant action on the yellowfin tuna. We caught a fast, easy limit of 30 pound yellowfins and then changed our target species to tilefish on the bottom. The tilefish were there and thick and within an hour we had a limit of tilefish to go with our limit of tuna. We stopped at a wreck on the way in for a moment and caught a nice bluefish and made it back to the dock in the daylight. All in all it was really really great fishing for december and we were very lucky to have the opportunity to get offshore and get a calm day with great fishing. We have plenty of dates available for charter and are now booking for the 2016 fishing season. We also just got a new order of shirts in and have Matador charters shirts for sale.
