On wednesday we took an offshore fishing charter out to the norfolk canyon in search of tuna based on a good satellite shot and some recent fishing reports that said tuna were in the area. We put together a walk on charter and headed offshore in 70 degrees weather on a flat calm december day which is very unusal for Virginia this time of year. We got to the canyon and it was instant action on the yellowfin tuna. We caught a fast, easy limit of 30 pound yellowfins and then changed our target species to tilefish on the bottom. The tilefish were there and thick and within an hour we had a limit of tilefish to go with our limit of tuna. We stopped at a wreck on the way in for a moment and caught a nice bluefish and made it back to the dock in the daylight. All in all it was really really great fishing for december and we were very lucky to have the opportunity to get offshore and get a calm day with great fishing. We have plenty of dates available for charter and are now booking for the 2016 fishing season. We also just got a new order of shirts in and have Matador charters shirts for sale. Striper season is here in Virginia Beach. Matador charters currently is doing striped bass fishing charters from rudee inlet in Virginia Beachand the rockfish are here and cooperating. Yesterday we did a full day inshore charter targeting striped bass trolling. yesterday we caught 67 striped bass keeping ten for the grill. The fishing was great with nonstop action catching fish all day in the chespaeake bay. Plenty of bites and plenty of fish made for really fun charter fishing. We are doing rockfish charters all the way through december and if ocean stripers show up off Virginia Beach in January, we will also do ocean rockfish charters.
