Category: Virginia Beach Fishing Reports
Sorry for the lack of reports lately! We have been very busy fishing nearly every day. The charter fishing in Virginia Beach has been fantastic lately. Today we fished a 6 hour inshore charter fishing trip off Virginia Beach on the charter boat Toro. We started the charter with some inshore trolling for Spanish mackerel and bluefish and captured about 50 Spanish mackerel and 15 bluefish in an hour or two of fishing. Then we went shark fishing at the mouth of the Chesapeake bay and caught several 3 to 4 foot sharks including hammerhead, bull, spinner, and sandbar sharks. Then to finish off the inshore charter fishing trip, we spent a while sight fishing for cobia. In short time we saw 21 cobia, catching 11, including this nice fish pictured.
Also inshore we are seeing some flounder and red drum. The spadefish bite inshore is about over for the summer. Some big sharks are available now. Triggerfish and amberjack are possibilities around the wrecks.
Offshore some yellowfin tuna, wahoo, and mahi mahi are around. Marlin are available and live baiting has been very good around the canyons. Bigeye tuna have shown up and are available on extended offshore and overnight fishing charters from rudee inlet. Deep drop fishing charters are seeing excellent tilefish, sea bass, some grouper and golden tilefish.
Altogether, we are in the heat of summer and in the middle of the charter fishing season. The fishing has been really great and consistent and we have plenty of dates available for charter. Give us a call today at 7577496008 and get your charter fishing trip booked. Thank you, capt. Jake
