Today, we had an inshore fishing charter out of Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach. The weather has been bad for a couple days and we were happy to see a nice calm day to get some fishing in. The fishing was a little slow in the morning and all we had was a couple of bluefish. But as waters settled out and warmed in the afternoon, we were able to make a really nice catch of spadefish. Spadefish are really strong fighting fish and are really fun to catch on light tackle. They are also very good to eat. We catch spadefish out of Virginia Beach in June and July on 3/4 day inshore fishing trips and full day inshore fishing trips.

Offshore fishing charters out of Virginia Beach continue to yield good numbers of yellowfin tuna and plenty of mahi mahi have also shown up as well. There have been some encounters with bigeye tuna and and marlin as well. Plenty of big sharks remain in the offshore waters near the norfolk canyon.

Deep drop fishing charters in Virginia Beach continue to be good with good catches of tilefish, sea bass, and wreckfish.

The last couple days have seen very good offshore fishing and really good charter fishing offshore in Virginia Beach. The yellowfin tuna have shown up in good numbers and there are some really big limits of tuna coming back to the docks in rudee inlet on charter boats over the last couple of days. The conditions have been perfect for tuna fishing over the last couple days and as a result, we are having some of the best tuna fishing in years in Virginia Beach right now. IF YOU WANT TO CATCH A TUNA, RIGHT NOW IS THE TIME. BOOK AN OFFSHORE FISHING TRIP AND LETS GO GET THEM. 

 
We had some shark fishing charter trips offshore over the last couple days and had some really amazing fishing trips. There has been exceptional shark fishing. We found a dead whale offshore and there were sharks all around it. We caught and released numerous sharks including tiger sharks, blue sharks, and even a 15 foot long great white shark. Catching tiger sharks are cool, but this was the first ever great white I have caught and it was a really cool experience. It was a huge fish and an awesome bite to see. 
 
There has also been really good deep drop fishing offshore and we are seeing plenty of red drum and cobia on our inshore fishing charters. Any day now, we should see some spadefish biting and there should be some sharks and spanish mackerel as well.

On Monday, we had an offshore fishing charter out of Virginia Beach and we were going to go deep dropping. The weather was great and we got an early start out of rudee inlet. We arrived at the fishing grounds at the norfolk canyon after seeing some bluefin tuna on the fingers area inshore of the norfolk canyon. We put a bait n the water very quickly to try to catch a tuna but we didnt wast emuch time with it. These were very small tunas and they were moving very quickly. Our target for the day was deep drop species, and as soon as we arrived at the canyon, we started catching target species. We caught a limit of tilefish and about 40 jumbo sea bass pretty quickly, with a few citations in the mix. Then we went and looked around at a couple of deeper spots looking for golden tilefish and wreckfish. Within a few minutes we had 5 golden tilefish, 3 rosefish, and 3 wreckfish. The deep drop fishing in the norfolk canyon was very good and with the calm seas the drift was slow with little current. We pulled away from the deep stuff and spent a while trying to catch a shark, but we did not have any bites. All in all it was a great day of fishing and came back to Virginia Beach with a box full of big fish that are good to eat with a couple citation sized fish in the mix. 

 
Overall offshore fishing is beginning to heat up. a few tuna and dolphin are being caught out of Virginia beach and the tuna fishing to our north and south is very good right now. Any day we could see the tuna fishing turn on and get started for the season. We are also seeing a few sharks showing up.
